Owen is worn out! He had his 18 month check-up today with Dr. Kemi. She confirmed that he is a healthy little boy! He weighs 26 lbs, 11 oz. and is 34 1/2 inches tall. He has a runny nose and his left ear looks a little red, but she is thinking that it will get better on its own. He is saying so much now. Most of it is hard to understand unless you see what he is talking about, but he copies EVERYTHING. He was so cute lastnight, Justin and I had him saying, "Oh bother!"
We have not been sleeping for the last 7 days. Owen has gotten in the habit of waking up around 12am and staying awake until 3:30 or 4. On Tuesday night, he was up every 30-45 minutes, so I finally just made him a pallet next to our bed, so that I could get some sleep. At around 2:30, I woke up to find Owen standing next to my face saying something about a bird. (there actually was one making noise outside our window that night) I got a kick out of thinking about it the next day. We thought at first that it could be his Singular that he gets right before bed, but Dr. Kemi is pretty sure that it is a behavioral issue. Pray for us tonight! We having started letting him put himself to sleep. (something that we should have started a long time ago, but he is so darn cute---go ahead experienced mothers and laugh!) Tonight went pretty smoothly. We had a bath, ate his snack, brushed his teeth, read two books, and put him in his bed. He cried for 4 minutes (and 13 seconds!) and then he was out. I took this picture shortly after. I am anxious to see how he does when we try it at 12am. He usually has more energy after his nap from 8:30-midnight. We will see!
Our home inspection is tomorrow at 9am. We are hoping that all goes well and we do not find out any terrible news.
FYI to all mommies- Stride Rite stores are having their buy one get one half off sale this week, only happens twice a year.
