I had to work at the hospital over the weekend. Since I was already out and in my scrubs today, I went ahead and went to the nursing home to start seeing my patients for the week. All of my patients were doing well. They were all enjoying their weekends. The ones that are in for short-term rehab talked about going home and all of the patients talked about the visitors they did or did not have over the weekend. I received aleast 7 hugs and few kisses and a billion questions of why I was there on a Sunday. It was a normal day at Newnan Nursing and Rehab.
As I was leaving the nursing home, I realized just how much I love my job. I am very blessed to be where I am right now. I never thought that I would love working at a nursing home. It is such a great place to work. I have the best co-workers that anyone could ask for. We are an all female rehab team and we all really enjoy working with this population. Sara and Christine (OT & PT) are the best at what they d0. They realize that these patients would rather be at home, so they make all of the tasks and activities fun. The rehab gym at any given time usually looks like a geriatric social club.
My job also allows me to have the best of both working and staying at home with Owen.
Graduate school was definately worth the hassle. I could not have dreamed of anything better!
