5 days new

Meg is doing well. We had a great night lastnight where she only woke up every three hours to eat and slept for one 4-hour period. We have some "tweeking" to do; we did not get to go to sleep until 1 am. We went to bed at 9:00, it was 9:45 by the time we read to Owen and got him to sleep. I laid down for about 20 minutes when Meg woke up to nurse, by 10:45 we were again ready to go to sleep, except for Meg. I burped her and changed her diaper and as soon as I wrapped her back up for sleep, she made a dirty diaper! So once we finally got to sleep at 1, we had a good night.

Meg had her one week check-up today and she passed with flying colors. She weighs 7lbs, 5 oz. (she left the hospital at 7lbs, 1 oz) We have been having some problems with her latching on when she nurses and she doctor gave us a few tips. So hopefully nursing much more pleasant in the next few days.
We noticed at the hospital that one of Meg's legs was more purple than the other, so we asked the nurse about it and of course it was something normal for newborns. Also while in the hospital, I noticed twice that the side of Meg's face was blood red, while the other side was pale. I thought that it was just from us holding her against our skin. Yesterday, while having her newborn pictures taken, I noticed the redness went completely down her body and it was as if someone had drawn a line straight down her body. It looked really weird. We asked the doctor about it today and she said that it is just her immature vessels trying to compensate when we have her turned to one side or the other. (Harlequin cyanosis) She reassured us that it was ok and that she should out grow it over the next week or so. We have another appointment on Monday to weigh her and she should be back up to her birth weight by then.

Owen continues to be a great big brother. He loves giving her kisses. He is enjoying having Honey here to play with. He started out the week in the bed with her at night, but the last two nights he has insisted on sleeping with Mom and Dad and baby "tister." We are venturing out tomorrow to get him some new shoes. This should be interesting, but surely with three adults and two kids, we will be able to handle it.

Justin and I are doing great. I feel just about back to normal aside from lack of sleep. Justin has taken the week off from work, so he is having fun piddling around the house and playing with Owen.

Honey (my mom) is here for two weeks and she seems to be surviving. She is keeping Owen clean and fed all while getting snuggles in with Meg. She is also preparing all of our meals and cleaning up the kitchen. ( I could get used to this) I have enjoyed some sweet moments with Owen alone while Honey babysits little sister.

I'm glad everything is going good and that Meg is doing great!! I think it takes a few days for you to remember how tiring it is to not sleep all night!! You are lucky that your mom is there to help out!!
Owen would probably love the Geotrax that my boys have {though it takes them a little while to figure out how to put the pieces together}. I think we got Grant a set that came with a train station, some tracks, and a remote control train for like $40. That would be a good one to start with...then we just bought more stuff anytime we saw it on sale!

She is absolutely beautiful!

My boys have GeoTrax and they really like it. Start with a good starter set to get you going. The only downside is that you will want more (and unfortunately they aren't cheap). They are lots of fun for the adults too *points at self* =)

Congrats on your darling daughter.

Owen looks like he is enjoying being the big brother. Don't let Meg grow up too much before we get up there to see her. She is so precious!!
