Wierd people!

Justin wanted a new hitch to go on the minivan so we would be able to carry his boat on our trips, so Wednesday afternoon we went to Norcross, GA to get one. I was expecting there to be some sort of shopping around the store for me and the kids to shop at while they installed it. I was WRONG! It was a dirty U-haul store in the middle of no where. Owen quickly entertained himself picking up everything that was not glued down and Meg slept. An hour into our visit at the U-haul store, Meg woke up. I got her out of her carseat and she was happily looking around. A lady and man walked into the store together. They looked a little ragged, but mainly like they had been moving all day. She asked if we had been waited on and I told her yes, so the man steps up to the counter. The lady sees Meg and comes over to talk with us. This is what follows:
Lady: "Aww, how old is she?
Me: "3 1/2 months."
"She is so cute!"
"Thank you."
"Can I hold her?"
"No, I am not real comfortable with that."

Why would a perfect stranger think that I would just hand my baby over to her? I was so caught off guard, I was not really sure what to say. I had had this happen at the nursing home, but you would expect it there. I will let the patients hold her and just keep my hand on her so they do not drop her. It has also happened at church, but I at least knew someone that knew the person. And who would try to steal a baby at church?

Just so you know. Next time you are at a dirty U-haul store, do not be surprised if a complete stranger ask to hold your sweet baby. I will have a nicer response preparred next time it happens to us!

That is too funny. The same thing happened to me when Carter was a baby. I was waiting to get my car tag and a lady asked if she could hold him. Only I didn't know else to say, so I let her hold him but only for a second.
