Owen started running a fever shortly after I got home from work yesterday. I was a little concerned that he had gotten over heated playing at the park, because Mrs. Cindy said that he had been fine all day. I changed clothes and sat down and took his temp and it was 102.2. I gave him some tylenol and within 15 minutes he was asleep in my lap. He woke up when Justin came home and we ate supper. He seemed fine, so I ran to the grocery store for 45 minutes. When I got home Justin had just put him to bed, but he was concerned that his fever was back up. We went in to check and it was 103.8. We gave him motrin, 30 minutes later it still had not gone down so we gave him a dose of Tylenol, finally after another 30 minutes it went down to 101 something. Needless to say, it was a rough night. We set the alarm for every 4 hours to give him more medicine, but he woke up both times 3 1/2 hours later with a fever above 103.
We took him to the doctor and she was a bit puzzled as to why he was running a fever with no other symptoms until she looked in his throat and felt his glands. He has strep throat! She said that the motrin tends to not do much for the fever with strep, but still give it for the aches and pains that it causes. She also said that it usually appears to come on very quickly with toddlers. We gave him one dose of the antibiotics and he is feeling much better. I think that we will continue to give him the tylenol every four hours tomorrow and by saturday, he should be back to normal.
Hopefully Justin and I will not catch the plague.

Yeah, Jake has had strep twice! It totally knocks him out for a couple of days with that high fever. Don't be surprised if he gets a rash all over too. A few days on the antibiotice, he'll be good as new! Just take this opportunity to get your snuggles in now! :)
Ugh! We just got over that. I was on the verge of taking Asher to the ER because he screamed for literally 9 hours, and I didn't know why. Glad Owen is better!
