"I will never do that when I am a parent"

WRONG!!! This is my sweet toddler held captive in front of the TV and eating frozen waffles. Both things that I said I would never do to my children. This is the scene that plays out at least 3 mornings a week, or if Owen wakes up before I am done getting ready. The waffles are a new thing. I saw them at the grocery store and thought that he may like them and it was probably alright for him to eat them every once in awhile right? Honestly, it is not the waffles that he likes so much, it is the syrup. I wonder if I give him toasted broccoli with syrup if he would eat it as well. He loves the morning cartoons on PBS. His favorites are Sid the Science Kid and Super Why.
I also have to brag a second. My child is getting so smart. I am not sure where he is learning these things, but he can tell me the difference between a number and a letter, and get the basic shapes and colors right. I know that they are working on colors and shapes at school, but it is as if he just learned them all in one week, rather than one a week. I could not believe it when he pointed to the sale paper the other day and said, "look at the letters you got momma." Then he gets the number magnets from the fridge the other day and said, "need numbers momma?" I am amazed that my child is SO smart and still has to be told 73 times not to throw water outside the tub. There is breakdown occuring somewhere!

We parents have all said the same thing, but learn quickly, "NEVER say NEVER"!!!! You'll rely a lot on that TV once Meg gets here. Nothing wrong with educating your children with cartoons!!!!!
