2 Months old

We have had sweet baby Meg for 2 months now. It is amazing how quickly it has happened. She is such a cuddly little baby. She loves to watch Owen run around and gets so excited when he comes to talk to her. She smiles all the time and is even starting to laugh. When she is watching her bird mobile, she will laugh and talk with the birds. It is so sweet to watch.
We are quickly getting into a routine and things are starting to feel normal around the house again. Meg and Owen are both sleeping well. Meg wakes up around 2 and again around 5 or 6 to eat but quickly goes back to sleep. Both kids wake up around 7:30 and then Meg goes back down for a nap around 8:15 or 8:30. Owen takes an afternoon nap between 12:30 and 2:30. Meg does not yet have a consistant daytime nap schedule. If we lay in the bed with Owen she will sleep the full two hours. If I lay her in her crib, she will sleep for about 45 minutes. If we are out and about, she will just take cat naps here and there. Owen goes to bed around 8:30 or 9 and Meg is usually ready about the same time.
I had scheduled Meg's 2 month checkup today because Owen had preschool this morning and I did not want him to see her get her shots. I got to the doctors office and somehow they had scheduled me for yesterday. So we are rescheduled to go back on Monday morning. I will post her stats at some point after that. I am assuming that she weighs around 12 lbs now.
Her dermatology appointment went well monday. She gave me an ointment to use on Meg's face and told us to keep it moistened with aquaphor ointment.
She has a swallowing evaluation tomorrow so that we will hopefully figure out how to change her swallow pattern. She continues to have difficulty latching on and staying latched on while nursing. She has the same problem with the bottle. Mrs. Kay tried the playtex wide nipple bottle with her today and she said she did a lot better.
For my SLP friends: she has poor anterior lingual movement, but great anterior lingual strength. When sucking her tongue tip is down rather than cupped and her tongue base is raised up to her soft palate which creates a suction which as soon as she triggers a swallow pushes the tongue and nipple out. After every swallow she is having to latch back on- which seems like every second when you are feeling it :) I know what she is doing but have not a clue how to fix it. I am eager to see what the SLP does. I am sure there is some simple non-nutritive exercise that she will have me doing to reverse the pattern and I will go, "Oh yeah, I could have thought of that." I wish we would have had more experience with pediatric dysphagia. I feel like the only thing that we learned about with little ones were texture aversions. Does anyone else feel inadequate in this area or is it just because it is my own child?

Meg is so precious. Give her (and Owen) hugs and kisses from us. Clayton used the playtex wide nipple bottles too. He had no problems switching between nursing and bottling. So good luck with the new bottles. I know that has to be stressful for you.
